If you’re just starting hair loss treatment, or you’ve been going for a while, there are still questions that can crop up. At Tango Hair Loss Clinic, our goal is to help you be as informed as possible when it comes to choosing the right hair loss solution or hair replacement system, such as wigs, hairpieces or hair toppers.
So, have a look at some of the key questions about wigs and hair replacement for 2020.
Question 1: If I have thin hair or partial hair loss, do I need a full wig?
There’s nothing to say that you can’t have a full wig if you only have thin or partial hair loss. However, that’s not your only option. Hair toppers, hairpieces, and extensions can all be great ways to blend with your natural hair and help it look fuller. As with wigs, these can be cut and styled to match, meaning that no one will be any the wiser
Question 2: How do I make my wig look more realistic?
For many, having a realistic-looking wig means that it doesn’t look like you’re wearing a wig at all. There are a couple of ways that you can achieve this. For one, having the wig cut, coloured or styled in a similar way to how your natural hair was can go a long way to helping it look more natural.
Some other tips include plucking hairs from the hairline of the wig. Wigs ten to offer uniform thickness across the board, when in reality natural hair tends to be a bit thinner around the face. By plucking a few hairs here, especially above the forehead, you create a more natural look. Similarly, leave your ‘baby hairs’, the small, soft hairs around your face, out so that it’s visible. This contributes to the perfect look for your wig.
Question 3: How do I take care of my wig or hair replacement system?
First, make sure to brush your wig or hair topper regularly, while being careful to avoid the roots and the wig cap. Keeping the hair tangle free will ensure it looks great all the time.
We also recommend washing it, though not too often. If you wear the hair system daily, then once a week is fine. The easiest way to do this is to put the wig or hairpiece into the sink and add cold water and wig shampoo. It’s important to only use cold water and specific wig shampoo when washing, as otherwise, you can risk damaging the piece. Gently massage the hair and cap area before rinsing thoroughly with cold water. To apply conditioner, apply gently with your fingers, avoiding the cap area. Rinse out, and place on a stand to dry. Try and avoid blow-drying, and wait to brush the wig or hairpiece until the hair is completely dry.
